Personal Narrative My Best Friend - 1713 Words
Rachel is my best friend. We have been friends since the third grade, and she knows me the best. Weââ¬â¢re like two peas in a pod. (simile) She told me earlier today that she had a huge surprise for me. I was excited. She just texted me telling me she was on her way over. I have no idea what she could be getting me. My birthday was coming up so I assumed it was an early birthday present. I saw her car pull up in the driveway. Rachel gets out of her car. She begins to walk up to the door and with each of their steps, I get more and more anxious. My mom comes downstairs with a suitcase. ââ¬Å"Where are you going mom?â⬠I asked. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m not going anywhere,â⬠she replies. Just then Rachel knocks on the door. Three big knocks like claps of thunder. I runâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I grab my suitcase, and head out the door with Rachel. I get into Rachelââ¬â¢s car, and we head off to the airport. On the way Rachel tells me that it s a three hour flight. Jeez. I think I forgot to mention how Iââ¬â¢m scared of flying. It something about the height I think. But three hours of suffering leads to two days of happiness. We arrive at the airport. I forgot how loud it is. We get our tickets and get out our passports and wait in the line for security. This line is moving slower than molasses in January. We finally get to the front of the line. We sit down on the plane. I text my mom and say we re about to take off. I start to sweat after I send the text. Every possible situation that could happen runs through my mind. My pulse is a car race. (metaphor) Faster and faster. Rachel looks at me and knows exactly what I m thinking. ââ¬Å"Lily,â⬠she says, ââ¬Å"Everything will be okay. We will land safely. I promise.â⬠ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m just so worried,â⬠I say. ââ¬Å"I know. But I promise it will be okay,â⬠Rachel says. We take off. Wow this three hour flight will be amazing! (verbal irony) I fall asleep. Three hours later I wake up, and we ve landed. Wow that went by fast. After we check into the hotel, it downpours. Even through the window the beach looks perfect. Although it s so dark, I can see the white sands, and choppy blue waters.
